Gaines Tavern History Center Receives Award

This week the Gaines Tavern History Center received a Preservation Award from the Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board. The award was presented to the Friends of Gaines Tavern co-chairs Cynthia Hurtt and Evelyn Hance, and Mayor Paula Jolley.

Lee Frakes - Citizen of the Year 2011

At the Journal News "Citizen of the Year" dinner, held on April 20th, Mr. Lee Frakes was honored by receiving the recognition as "Citizen of the Year 2011" for the City of Walton.

He was nominated along with Mayor Paula Jolley and Steve Brooks of Brooks Meats. Readers of the Journal News were to send in ballots marked with their choice for the honor.

Walton Community Park Grand Opening

Construction of the new dog run is complete at the Walton Community Park on Old Stephenson Mill Road. New playground equipment is in. Join the City on May 19th for the Grand Opening of the playground equipment. There will be activities prior to the the movie, Rio, at dusk. Ryan Land Care is the sponsor of the family movie.
