Paula M. Jolley Appointed Mayor
Former Mayor Wayne Carlisle resigned effective November 20, 2011. At a special called Council Meeting, November 21, Council member Paula M. Jolley was appointed Mayor by her peers. Mayor Jolley will hold office until the general election in November, 2012, when a new Mayor will be elected for the remaining 2 years of the existing term.
“Letters of Interest” for the vacant seat on City Council will be accepted until December 7th at 6:00 p.m. Interested parties should be available for questions at caucus on December 8th.
Christmas on Main, Friday, December 2nd
Join the City of Walton as we begin celebrating the holidays with the 10th Annual Christmas on Main. Festivities include a parade led by Santa and Mrs. Claus, lighting of the City's Christmas tree. Santa will hear the wishes of little one at City Hall assisted by Mrs. Claus. Main Street businesses will offer free food and drinks. T.A.N.K. buses and horse drawn wagon and carriages are available to view the beautiful light displays throughout the city. There is also a petting zoo of nativity animals for the children. New this year at 8:00 pm, everyone is invited to First Baptist Church for musical entertainment by the WVHS Chorus, 1st Baptist Church Choir, and others to end the festive evening.
